Photos of the January 20 tragedy. Men, women, children were victims. The more vivid pictures are the images ever imbeded in the memory of those who were there in Baku that dreadful day.
The pain in the pictures is carried in the hearts of all Azerbaijan citizens. All we wanted was freedom, and all we received was brutality.
We could not go for a walk in the streets after 10:00 a.m. The policemen said to all the people that no one can go to the streets. If the police will see anyone in the street, they will bring them to prison, and they killed people there.
The Russian soldiers put other people into the Caspian Sea to drown. Even they killed the doctors who were seeking to treat the wounded. The soldiers killed scientists and anyone coming back from work.
On January 19 the soldiers took over the radio and television station so they controlled the information to keep the cruelty from the world. The film of the January 20 operation was destroyed to prevent justice and sympathy from the countries of the world. It was the evening of January 20 the soldiers came to Baku. Even the people in other Azerbaijan cities did not know of the crimes being committed upon the citizens.
There was only one documentary film by RAŞİD BEHBUDOV. For this film the Russian leader had Behbudov killed. During this time not one country knew of the events in Baku.
Now we want the world to know the truth, and remember with us the sacrifice of those innocent people, men, women, children, doctors, scientists, common workers, all were victims.
The Russians soldiers killed doctors and nurses when in times of war the doctors and nurses are to be spared and allowed to do their work.
